The case of Italy and the programming 2021-2027 after COVID-19
The analysis of Cooperation Programmes involving Italy describes the status of implementation of the two Macro-Regional Strategies affecting Italy: the European Strategy for the Adriatic-Ionian Region (EUSAIR) and the European Strategy for the Alpine Region (EUSALP) and the WESTMED Initiative (EU Maritime Basin Strategy).
The report try to provide information on the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic on the implementation of cooperation programmes and on the development of their Action Plans.
Building the new provisions for programming 2021-2027, it is necessary to re-start thinking cooperation considering the several difficulties caused by the restrictive measures imposed to combat the COVID-19.
From these years, the idea of cooperation starting from real needs of the countries will be increasingly promoted for programming.
In facts, needs and issues has been changed during and after the pandemic, simultaneously to the development of an enlarged interest on the respect of the environment.
Moreover, considering Green Deal and the guidelines of Next Generation EU, European territorial cooperation in Italy confirms a significant contribution to the ecological transition objectives.
